Area social workers, meanwhile, can earn two continuing education units by attending free workshops dealing with stress and the “winter blues” on March 25 at Wheeling Hospital’s Conference Room C.
Dorsey and his endoscopy staff today will discuss how to prevent colorectal cancer, as well as some of the current treatments. They also will explain the colonoscopy procedure and exactly how a colonoscope is used. Fecal occult blood test kits will be distributed for participants to take home, along with instructions on their use. Various pamphlets on colorectal cancer also will be available.

On March 25, the hospital, the Carriage Inn of Cadiz and the Area Agency on Aging Region 9 will co-sponsor stress and winter blues workshops to coincide with National Social Work Month. Attendees who complete both workshops will be awarded the two CEUs.
“Assess Your Stress,” from 2-3 p.m., will address the various types of stress — positive vs. negative — stress symptoms and effects on the body, coping strategies, burnout and tips for changing one’s attitude toward stress.
In “Beat the Winter Blues,” attendees will learn about seasonal affective disorder symptoms and suggested treatments, some of which are unconventional. This workshop is scheduled from 3-4 p.m. Registration for the March 25 workshops is required and begins at 1:30 p.m. Wheeling Hospital will provide light refreshments.
