Find, Punish Sender Of Hoaxes to Governors

By the News-Register
POSTED: December 15, 2008

Thirty governors - including W.Va. Gov. Joe Manchin - have received letters containing suspicious looking white powder. In all cases, the FBI has determined the powder is harmless.

Still, the FBI and the Postal Service should pursue an investigation of the letters, which may have been sent by the same person. He or she either is a kook or someone with a strange sense of humor.

Either way, the sender is subject to a federal law under which prison terms of up to five years can be imposed for mailing hoax letters.

Powder in this round of letters is harmless. But, if not apprehended, the person responsible could decide to escalate the harassment. Law enforcement authorities should find and punish the sender to deter others who may have the same twisted idea.

Poor Nancy, still re-writing history. Do you work with Winston Smith?

Don't know if you read the papers, but the Scientist the FBI was investigating for the anthrax scares, committed suicide some months ago.

Are you still blaming Bush because you didn't get the Barbie doll you wanted for Christmas?

I'm betting that you would leap at the chance to fellate our President-Select

Reminds me of the fine winter morning that two Clear Channel employees were scrubbed raw in the street by a Haz-Mat team after opening a letter containing "some white powder". After scrubbing the DJ's, check-ups at Wheeling Hospital, and the Capitol Music Hall being closed down, it was discovered that not only was the "white powder" nothing more that confectionery sugar but the letter sender was making icing at the same time the letter was being composed and written and the "powder" was inadvertently included in the envelope and no harm was intended. The point of me telling you this story is that the letters sent by the so-called hoaxer have yet to be determined if a "hoax" was even intended. I think that Mikey is jumping the gun here just a bit...or the shark...
