Pelosi’s Arrogance On Display Again

The Intelligencer
POSTED: March 12, 2010

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's arrogance apparently knows no bounds. This week Pelosi, D-Calif., in effect told Americans we are not entitled to know how the health care bill being pushed by liberals would affect us until after it is enacted.

Asked about the bill's contents during an appearance at the Legislative Conference of the National Association of Counties, Pelosi said this: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

Really. That is Pelosi's opinion - that discussion of the bill as people attempt to find out how it will affect them is a bad thing. Ram it through, then worry about what is in the measure, she advises.

Pelosi only said what so many liberals believe, that they know what is "good" for us - whether it really is or not -and that our opinions just don't count.

WVEXPAT,.,.."Lets provide 100 new govt agencies to create even more obstacles to paying claims and general administration."

That's just the point, Bro. Create MORE Covt. Jobs! It doesn't generate more WEALTH, but it sure provides MORE VOTES for DEMIKRATS!!

All but the biggest FOOL realizes that ObieCare has nothing to do with Health care or Health Insurance. It has everything to do with CONTROL.

But the Lefties just love it, because a radical Leftie is trying to implement it. And when the bill comes due, they'll just blame George Bush. Mostly because the Socialist/Communist MEDIA will tell them to!

It must really s u c k to be a demikrat sheeple!

Former, Forget that Wellpoint paid billions in taxes or gave millions to charity or employs 42,000 people (who pay more taxes) and doesn't pay their CEO's excessive compensation packages!

They are private sector and therefor EVIL! Lets regulate them more so they pay less in taxes, lay off people, give less to charity.

Lets provide 100 new govt agencies to create even more obstacles to paying claims and general administration.

Isn't it obvious that these things will reduce healthcare costs!

nobody ever asked plozie to run for any office. The broad decided to do that and the public really lost when she was chosen by obvious airheads from the left.

Wellpoint/Blue Shield/Anthem has 42,000 employees and gross sales of $61.3 Billion. Their CEO, Angela Braley, received a salary of $4.06 million in 2009, making her 306th highest paid executive in the USA. Wellpoint Net profit was 4.06%. They terminated 1,500 employess last year.

Roxanne Spillett is CEO of the non- profit charity Boys and Girls Clubs of America. They have $107 million in donations last year and a staff of about 1000. Her salary is just under $1 million!!!

If Wellpoint paid Braley the same percentage of gross as the non-rofit charity, her salary would be roughly $572 MILLION a year!

NON-PROFIT FRAUD: FAIL!

And the unConstitutional welfare/warfare state continues. Neither the Dems nor the Reps will stop this madness. It's time for third and fourth parties.

The most astoundingly stupid part of this incredibly dumb broad's arrogance is the fact that she thinks people should be dumb enough to go along. When that fails, she calls her opponents names.

Rock, the Ghanian I spoke with has an MBA from the Sloan School at MIT. Met him at an alumni party. I don't think he was confused, just thinking in the socialist rut his background created.

No competition? You don't think United and Wellpoint aren't trying to grab off each other's customers? You don't think the only really important thing for Wellpoint's CEO is getting to be Number 1? What dreamworld are you living in?

One other point: what you and yours' love to ignore is most privately employed people are insured by their employers directly. It's called self-insurance. All the people like Blue Cross or Cigna or United do is put together different plans and groups of service providers, and offer them to the companies. I saw some blurb on the net that one insurance company had over 50% of the health insurance in Alabama. True, one company did the paperwork. The truth is there were 22 THOUSAND different companies that used that firm to run their programs. And since the EMPLOYERS set the limits and size of the coverage, the insurance companies just do what they are told. Translation, they have no motive to turn down claims, because it's NOT THEIR MONEY!!!

Every company in the Fortune 1000 has this. Heck, I know companies with just 100 employees that do this. So quit lying about the "gouging" insurance companies.

Wanna know why I am fighting this whole thing? Thanks to the collapse of the steel industry in 2002, I was unemployed/underemployed for several years. I ended up using Medicaid. You think the current system is bad??? Take your worst horror story from an HMO, multiply it by 5 and you get close to the reality. Fortunately, since I am the picture of senior health, I didn't need to use it much. Consider that there were only certain emergency rooms I could go to, or certain hospitals, and the only clinic I could use was three buses away. And this is the system you want all of us to use?

Another thing, Rock, you mentioned Wellpoint and United. Did you notice their profit margins for last year? 4% and 3.6%. Wow, they are really gouging us, aren't they??!!

Former' Not only that, but the HAG has a constant buggy eyed, Wild Stare on her face at all times,...........did ya ever notice?

Those folks make fun of Sarah constantly, then trot out that old, worn out nag to worship as some kind of idol!

Citing David Balto as a disinterested source is laughable. To quote that noted right-wing source, wikipedia, " Citing Podesta's influence in the formation of the Obama Administration, a November 2008 article in Time stated that "not since the Heritage Foundation helped guide Ronald Reagan's transition in 1981 has a single outside group held so much sway." " At least I, unlike some, will attribute my cut and paste efforts.

BTW, as for my opinion of Lugosi, consider this. If that was Denny Hasterd, her predecessor (that means the guy that had the job before her, Blunder), had said this about one of his pet bills, you would be having a cow. Face it, you want this crappy bill passed, and you don't care about the Constitution, or legal precedent, or anything but getting your way.

David Balto, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, speaking to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation in July 2009:

"During the Bush administration, there were no enforcement actions against health insurers’ anticompetitive, deceptive or fraudulent conduct. There was tremendous consolidation in the market, and the Justice Department simply required minor restructuring of two mergers. There were no cases against anticompetitive conduct by health insurers.”

old steel - "Pelosi is a horrible person...I like Sarah, and I like Mitt"...well, you are on the OPINION page.

and "unlike the Dems, we do not try to shift the norms to make ourselves appear normal"..apparently goes hand in hand with having a corner on the market of truth.

Maybe the Ghanaian was confusing the fact that a PUBLICLY-funded health care system which his dollars would fund and which is mostly free at the point of use differs from the free "emergency room health care" that is lauded my Republicans.

..and your "because there are plenty of other insurance companies that are always trying to take your customers away" befuddles me since in the last 12 years 400+ mergers have left two conglomerates, United Health and Wellpoint, in control of the health care insurance industry.

I notice that when Harry Reid's wife and daughter were seriously injured in a traffic accident the other day, they immediately rushed them to Canada for their superior health care system... NOT!

Conversely, when actress Natasha Richardson was injured from a simple skiing accident in Canada, the Canadian system was SO BAD they airlifted her to a hospital in the USA. All of which cost about 9 hours of time and HER LIFE!

GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE: FAIL!

hoopie - Only an absolute fool would fail to see that Pelosi's nothing more than the empty-headed mouthpiece for an oligarchial socialism. The child of a corrupt Baltimore political family and the wife of an uber-wealthy California businessman sent forth to be the face of their agenda. And it seems they had her face custom-built for the purpose. In a just world, she would be executed like all the rest of them.

OSM, well thought out and presented statements. The only thing wrong with any of it is, it doesn't repel the "But Bush" whine from the left!

The demikrats don't govern, they "operate". And right now they operate from the known fact that most 'run of the mill' demikrats will fall for the old "touch/feely" crap. That is the modus operandi in play now.

It is truely amazing just how STUPID Pelosi, Obama and Ried think the regular folks are. And they are P.O.ed that ALL of us aren't falling for it.

And the height of stupidity is the fact that a man came out of no where, talked his way into the White House, and has now convinved a significant number of people that he knows what it best for them............AND THEY BELIEVE IT!

Than GOD Almighty, that there are a handfull of demikrats that are looking at UHC with a weary eye; even if in terms of self preservation.

Despite what you leftie loons think, the vast majority of insurance claims sail right through. I have it on good authority (my sister who runs a hospital) than most of the paperwork problems are with Medicare and Medicaid. Insurance companies want happy customers, because there are plenty of other insurance companies that are always trying to take your customers away. Fighting claims for frivolous reasons is a good way to lose those customers.

But the Feds have no competition, so if some bureaucrat decides to be a jerk, who will stop him/her? Can't be fired for incompetence, except in really awful circumstances. Unionized, on top of it. Ever seen a grievance meeting? Reminds me of making sausage, kinda ugly.

Frankly, if they want to be gay, let 'em. No skin off my nose. That's not the question.

I had an argument with a well educated guy, originally from Ghana, about health care here. He actually said "who will give me my health care." This guy makes a six figure salary, but was educated in Europe. I said no one, he could afford his own. I then said there is a logical follow-on to his statement, that if someone else gives you your health care, they can decide what you get, and can take it away if they want to. He was actually shocked that this could be so. But the more he thought about it, the more agitated he got. He literally never considered the consequences of having others in power over his life.

Bottom line, I made a convert that night. And as an immigrant citizen, he always votes.
