A Wheeling man is headed to federal prison after admitting to selling marijuana and other drugs in the area.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II announced District Judge Frederick P. Stamp Jr. sentenced John C. Killeen, 24, of Wheeling to four years and three months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

Killeen pleaded guilty Nov. 30 to one count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana from June to Oct. 9, 2009, in the Wheeling area. During a search of Killeen's residence, authorities found 11 pounds of marijuana, 414 OxyContin pills, $5,075 in cash and a semi-automatic gun. As part of his plea, Killeen admitted to his involvement in other matters concerning marijuana and OxyContin. He also forfeited the firearm and drug proceeds.

Killeen was remanded to the custody of U.S. marshals pending designation to a federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John C. Parr and investigated by the Ohio Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.
