The senior services program of Family Service-Upper Ohio Valley needs volunteers to deliver meals to seniors in the Elm Grove and South Wheeling areas.
Volunteers work Monday through Firday, but are off on most holidays.
Training is provided until the volunteer is comfortable with his or her route. Volunteers should allow three hours to deliver meals on their routes. Volunteers also are allowed to bring a friend to accompany them.
Volunteers use their own cars and are reimbursed for mileage.
"It is fun to talk to folks who don't receive a lot of visitors," said Lori Rice, nutrition program director. "Volunteering is a win-win situation. They will feel good to see your smiling face and you will feel good to have done something for someone who needs help.
In addition, Rice said, "If you cannot deliver meals, let us know how many hours you can volunteer. We will always be able to find a way for you to be helpful."
