Weirton Church Hosts Safe Driving Classes

An AARP Safe Driving class will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 3598 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 10-11.

Ralph Cox is the instructor. The class is for first-time participants.

This class is geared toward mature adults who may or may not be experiencing problems with diminishing vision, hearing and reaction time. Rules of the road are reviewed along with safe driving techniques.

Most insurance agencies offer a discount on vehicle insurance premiums to those who have completed this course. Participants must attend the entire two days to receive a certificate.

The fee is reduced for AARP members. The charge covers the cost of classroom materials, This fee must be paid prior to attending the class.

Participants will be limited to 20 and names will be taken on a "first come, first served" basis. Those who want to enroll must call the Brooke-Hancock-Ohio-Marshall Retired Senior Volunteer Program office at 304-527-3410.

Checks are to be made payable to AARP, with membership number on memo line, and sent to Retired Senior Volunteer Program, 948 Main St., Follansbee WV 26037.
