McCULLEY, Mary Jane, 93, formerly of McMechen, W.Va., died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
She was born December 7, 1918, in McMechen, a daughter to the late James C. and Margaret H. (Mountain) McCulley.
She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church in McMechen and the St. James Rosary Altar Society. She was a lifetime resident of McMechen and a 54 year employee in the business office at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Union High School, the Elliot School of Business, and the College of Commerce in Wheeling. She was a volunteer with the Macabee Lodge as a youth and teen group leader for the Heart Fund Drive, the Red Cross Blood Bank, and during the 1940s did volunteer work to help eradicate Tuberculosis. She was a former board member and volunteer for the Seeing Hand Society under the direction of Ethel Elikan. She was a former ladies auxiliary member and volunteer at Reynolds Memorial Hospital, and a former member of the McMechen Women's Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James A. McCulley, and George T. McCulley Sr., two sisters-in-law, Margaret L. "Bobbie" McCulley, and Dorothy McCulley, and great nephew, Albert Lee Langley IV.
She is survived by four nephews, George T. McCulley Jr., Michael J. (Betty) McCulley, Patrick J. (Chris) McCulley, and Timothy J. McCulley; four nieces, Christy Kirby, Jane (Joe) Sandrick, Marggie (David) Sweetman, and Barb (Mike) Doorman; and several great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, where a rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in McMechen with Rev. Ranjan Ekka as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
