MOSES, Michael David, 65, of Mt. Olivet, Wheeling, WV, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Wheeling Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 18, 1947, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late John and Carolyn Wydra Moses.
Mike was retired from Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, where he had worked for 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Our lady of Peace Council 12195, and a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Mike Moses; and an uncle, John Wydra.
Surviving are his brothers and sisters, John "Butch" Moses and his wife, Sandy of Columbus, OH; Sandy C. Higgins and her husband, Jay of Glen Dale, WV; Linda J. Richards and her husband, George of Wheeling, WV; and Gary Moses and his wife, Denine of Wheeling, WV; 12 nieces and nephews, Michelle Gregory and her husband, Brent; Melissa Goulet and her husband, Tom; Melanie Lesko and her husband, Mike; John "J.J." Higgins and his wife, Jennifer; Diane Crowley and her husband, Tim; Jeff Higgins and his wife, Jill; Jennifer Richards; Brian Richards and his wife, Jennifer; Maria Moses, Adrian Moses and his wife, Natalie; Gina Parker and her husband, Alan; and Aaron Moses; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many great friends.
Mike never met a stranger. He always had something to say about the weather, his birthday, or any event on TV or on the Hilltop. He always joked and teased everyone he came in contact with. He would retrieve the neighbor's paper and mail and take it right to their door, always wanting to be helpful. He had a servant's heart. His joy was volunteering at the Our Lady of Peace Lunch Program, Knights of Columbus Fish Frys, selling mops and brooms, and handing out flyers for the Mt. Olivet Lions Club. He always felt responsible and felt he had an important job moving traffic along from the Hilltop Church funerals. He was a faithful friend, loved by all who crossed his path and knew him. He was a special person with a unique personality, simply stated he was a Hilltop Icon.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family, friends and all who knew and loved him. Our peace is knowing he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his loved ones who have gone before him.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, and again from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Kepner Funeral Home (304-242-2311), 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling.
